Introduction

Today, I want to talk to you about use of FORMAL language. We use formal language is what we use in educational and professional settings. We also use it when speaking knowledgeably on a topic. We use these when presenting information, writing informational/opinion pieces, or speaking with authority figures or people you do not know.

Informal - slang: a type of language that consists of words and phrases that are regarded as very informal, are more common in speech than writing
Examples: drip, boujee, bussin, salty
Formal
what we use in educational reading and writing
speaking knowledgeably on a topic

In Your Notebook:  Take the three informal sentences from yesterday and make them formal!
