Introduction

Go to your google drive (Links to an external site.) and pull up your poetry slides.  You will use this over the course of the poetry unit to write poems!

Hey poet! Today, we are reviewing all poetry elements, as well as going back to look at the differences between drama and poetry.

Venn diagram of dramas vs. poetry
Dramas - Written by a playwright
Written in scenes and acts with lines of dialogue
Meant to performed in front of an audience
Written to tell a story on stage
Follows a natural story arc (characters, climax, resolution)

Poetry - Written by a poet
Written in lines and stanzas
Strong in figurative language
Written for the imagination through imagery
Meaning isn’t always clear

How they are similar: Both are creative and artistic.
Both deal with written work
