Phone.pngGRAMMAR

Introduction

When we write, we have the power to show tone and feeling! One way to do this is through punctuation. We need to make sure that we are using the right punctuation, or our writing may be misinterpreted.

Today, we will be learning about the function of the parentheses.

period - used at the end of a sentence
commas - marks a pause during a sentence
question mark - used at the end of a question
exclamation mark - used for expression when making a declaration
semi colon - used to separate two independent clauses
colon - used to separate items on a list
quotation marks - used to show direct speech within text
hyphen - used to join two adjectives before a noun
brackets/parentheses - used to provide additional information

Please use punctuation correctly. (Refer to the graphic as needed.)

My mom loves making us lunch (even if she forgets).
