Compound Sentences: Coordinating Conjunctions
Introduction
Yesterday, we discussed compound sentences. Compound sentences are when we combine two sentences (or independent clauses), together with a comma and a coordinating conjunction to create a compound sentences.
But what are the coordinating conjunctions and what do they mean?

In Your Notebook: Write down three sentences that have coordinating conjunctions in them. If they are compound sentences, don't forget the period!

Transitions have a few purposes:
- Move readers from one part of the text without feeling an abrupt shift
- Smooth!
- Used here and there, not everywhere!
- Can be words or phrases
