Reasons and Evidence in Informational Texts

Introduction

Hi Readers! When reading nonfiction or informational texts, we need to pay attention to the author's point.

Why is the author writing this?  What does the author want me to learn?

After we answer these questions, we can see the way the author gives reasons to support their ideas.

Authors give reasons to support their ideas.
1. Find the claim or point that the authors wants you to learn.
2. Find the reasons that support that idea.

In Your Notebook During your reading, today, choose a nonfiction text. Create the graphic organizer that is on the chart above, but use your own text to fill in the circles.
