Natural Rights and Democracy - Day 148

Introduction

As you remember, when America was first colonized, we were completely dependent upon Britain. This relationship of dependence resulted in an abuse of power, and conflicts that caused the American Revolution. Americans declared their rights were being taken from them by overbearing Britain and documented their ideas in The Declaration of Independence. One of the ideas shared in this declaration was the idea of natural rights, or the most basic, universal rights; such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
