Introduction
Today, we will begin learning about some of the major physical features of the U.S. As you learned yesterday, a physical feature in geography is a natural feature that you can observe in an environment. By understanding some of the major physical features in the U.S., you will be able to identify much more when you look at maps of the U.S. You will also begin to understand the connection between physical geography and barriers or gateways.
Let’s begin by looking at the following historic, physical map of the U.S.. As you look at the map, jot down what you think, notice, and wonder. Document your thinking in your journal.
