🔵 Explain: Weather Patterns - Day 18

Explain: Weather Patterns - Day 18

Introduction

Throughout this module you have investigated cloud patterns and discovered how tools are used to track the weather. You have investigated symbols on weather maps to learn about approaching weather. Like a meteorologist, you have looked for patterns in weather in your community.

In this last part of the module, you will be using all of the things you have learned to complete 2 final tasks. Get ready to put your meteorology skills to the test!

Assignment IconDiscovery Discussion: Weather Patterns in My Community

Discussion Prompt:

It’s time to share your scientific observations & make connections! So…grab your “Weather Patterns in My Community” data collection sheet and your Science Journal. Take a moment to look at and analyze all of your data. Are there any patterns in the data that you have not noticed and written about in your journal before?

Directions: To engage in this Discovery Discussion, look at your data and select one thing that you believe to be a “weather pattern”. Then, begin a discussion by including…

  • 2-3 sentences that clearly explains the pattern you noticed.

    • Consider using these sentence starters. “While collecting data I noticed a pattern in __(temperature, clouds, precipitation)___. The pattern was _____.”

  • 2-3 sentences that explain what you think this pattern means.

    • Consider using these sentence starters: “I think this pattern means that in the future _____. I think this pattern shows that _____ leads to ______. I could predict that _____ might happen before/after because _____.”

After creating YOUR post, go back and read other posts made by your classmates. Think about the patterns they noticed in their data collection. Do you  agree or respectfully disagree with their noticings?

Respond to at least one classmate’s post using 2-3 sentences telling why you agree or respectfully disagree with their scientific discoveries.
