Introduction

Think back to the images of the night sky that we viewed at the beginning of this module. Think about your own experiences viewing the night sky. Often we call this “stargazing”, but what you are actually seeing are BOTH stars and planets!

So… what is the difference between a planet and a star? How do scientists determine whether they are seeing a planet or a star?
