π΅ Investigate: Weather Patterns - Day 8
Investigate: Weather Patterns - Day 8
Introduction
In the last lesson, you learned that there are several factors that a meteorologist looks for to predict the weather. Those factors include: temperature, wind speed & direction, humidity, and air pressure. Today, you will begin to think like a meteorologist.
Over the next several days, you will be observing the weather in your community. You will record data over time and look for patterns that might help you predict weather like a meteorologist.
What is it like to be a meteorologist?
Ever wonder what itβs like to be a scientist who studies weather? Meteorologists get to do this every day.
In this video, you will get to follow along with some kids as they take a tour of a weather station and learn about what the scientists who work there do each day.
As you watch, think about all the ways meteorologists use their observation skills to understand the weather. Think about the different types of data they collect that help them see weather patterns in their community.
Activity: Investigate Weather Patterns in My Community
You will record data for 7 days on this same document, so make sure you keep up with it!
Directions:
- Open the Weather Patterns in My Community: Observations Chart Links to an external site.. After clicking the link, click "Make a copy". Add your name to the title of the document and save it to your computer, print it, or create one in your Science Journal if you do not have access to a printer.
- Each day, record your observations of weather patterns where you live.
- Use a safe search engine to research real-time weather data
