Investigate: Cloud Patterns - Day 2
Introduction
Think about what you observed in the cloud pattern phenomenon. Think about what you were wondering.
Those images were observed in different locations.
In this lesson, you will investigate to learn what characteristics distinguish types of clouds from each other.
You will need your Science Journal and a pencil.

- Grab your Science Journal and pencil.
- Watch this video to learn about characteristics of different types of clouds.
Assignment: Clouds In Your Community
Now that you have learned what distinguishes one type of cloud from another, you will investigate clouds in YOUR community.
You will observe clouds each day for one week.
What cloud types do you think you will see most often? Let’s investigate and see!

Directions:
- Print the “Cloud Observation” Chart. Links to an external site. (*Note: If you do not have access to a printer, open the file and create one in your Science Journal.)
- Each morning and afternoon, go outside and observe the clouds in your community.
- Record your observations (sketch/photo), the type of clouds you observed, and whether or not there was precipitation.
- You should complete your observations for one week.
