Multiplicative Comparisons
Introduction
Welcome back Mathematicians! We have seen several situations in which comparison has been used. WE use comparisons to look at sizes of objects, to describe relationships between items, and numbers. Today, we are going to explore the differences between additive comparisons or how much more does one have than another, and multiplicative comparisons, how many times more. This lessonβs target for you mathematicians are as follows: I can interpret equations as multiplicative comparison. I can represent verbal statements of multiplicative comparison as an equation.

How are the equations for β4 is 2 more than 2β and β4 is 2 times as many as 2β different? Write an equation and model for each statement and explain your thinking using math vocabulary.
