Modeling Multiplicative Comparisons

Introduction

Mathematicians, today we will continue to explore multiplicative comparisons by looking at situations in which we can see them and model them.  Our ultimate goal is to understand them in situations so we can decide on how we can use problem solving to attach such situations.

Sort and Solve Sort each of the given situations into the appropriate category.   Then, choose 1 β€œgroups of” situation and 1 multiplicative situation from the sort below to solve.  Make sure to write the equation and draw that model that helps you to solve the given word problem.

In your Notebook:

Create a three-column chart in your math notebook, titled Situations to Multiply.  In this chart, choose 1 groups of situation and 1 multiplicative situation from the sort above to solve.  Make sure to write the equation and draw that model that helps you to solve the given word problem.
