🔵 Rounding Multi-Digit Numbers Day 21

Rounding Multi-Digit Numbers

Introduction

Magnificent Mathematicians, today we are going to use a number line as a tool to round different multi digit numbers to any place.  But before we can effectively use such a tool, we need to establish number line benchmarks or endpoints.  Because a number line is a segment or piece of a continuous, we need to be able to identify the section in which our numbers would live.  In this lesson, you will have the opportunity to establish the benchmark points that we will use to round numbers to a given place.

In Your Notebook:  How can you establish the benchmarks for rounding a number to the hundreds?  What would be an appropriate midpoint?  Use an example to help explain your thinking,
