Let’s get out our math journals and  work through the following application problem. Make sure you read the problem carefully, draw a picture to match your thinking and write and solve an equation.

Read, Draw, Write, DONE!

R (Read the problem carefully.) Draw a number line for the 12 hours in AM.  Show that 6 hours have passed.   Now draw a number line for the 60 minutes in the hour. Show that 25 minutes have passed.  D (Draw a picture.) W (Write and solve an equation, or label your drawing.)
