Introduction

Hello Mathematicians! Today we will look around our world for examples of lines and angles.


Visual

What types of lines and angles do you see in these images?  Write your thoughts in your math notebook.

House.  Stop sign.  Brick wall. Yield sign.  Children at play sign.

Acute angle.  Right angle.  Obtuse angle.  Parallel lines.  Perpendicular lines.

Part 1 Directions:

  • Go on an "Lines and Angle Hunt"! Take a walk through your classroom, your home, or another location. 
  • What lines do you see?  What angles?
  • Take photos, or make drawings in your notebook.  

Part 2 Directions:

  • Create a presentation about lines and angles in the real world.  You can make a poster, a slideshow, or some other presentation of your choice.  Be creative!
  • You can use the examples you found in your Lines and Angles Hunt.  You can also search for photos online or find images in books.
  • Use the presentation checklist to be sure you have included all of the angle and lines types.
  • Share your presentation on the Next page.
