Lesson 9-- Math in Our World: Animal Stories Part 1
Introduction
Hello Mathematicians! Today we will practice solving real- world problems.
Black bears live in three distinct regions of Georgia, but may range over the entire state at times in search of food or a territory of their own. During the winter months, the bears in north Georgia enter their dens and hibernate. How long do they sleep? It depends on where they live.
Take a look at this image and map, then look at the chart. What do you notice? What do you wonder? Jot your thoughts in your math notebook.
Location | Average Length of Hibernation |
---|---|
Canada | 220 days |
Alaska | 212 days |
Georgia | 125 days |
