Unit 2, Lesson 20 -- Multiplying by 6
Lesson 18-- Multiplying by 6
Introduction
Hello Mathematicians! We learned that we can use what we know about groups of 5 to find 6 groups. Today, we will continue to practice multiplying by 6.
Interactive
Directions:
- Use the red counters to create an array that shows 5 rows of 3.
- What multiplication equation can you write to represent the array?
- Add 1 row of 3 with yellow counters.
- How can we write an equation to show that we started with 5 groups of 3 and added another group of 3?
- Now try making these arrays, and writing an equation:
- 6 X 4 =
- 6 X 8 =
- 6 X 6 =
Assignment
- Draw the chart below in your math notebook.
- Create your own multiplication story that shows items that come in groups of 6. Draw a picture, write a story problem, and model
the equation with a number line.
