Hello Mathematicians! Take a look at these two word problems.  In your math notebook, discuss how the problems are alike and different.  Can you use a strategy we have learned to solve them?

Sarah bought 3 packages of bracelets. Each package had 4 bracelets. How many bracelets
did she buy in all?


Selena made 4 shots in her game. Each shot was worth 3 points. How many points did Selena
score?

  • Match the multiplication expression with the story problem.
  • Then, choose a strategy and solve.

Part 2 Directions:

  • Draw the chart below in your math notebook.
  • Choose one of the following multiplication problems, and write it in the center of your chart.

  • Model the equation in four different ways-- repeated addition, equal groups, array, and bar model.
  • Then, write a word problem that matches your equation.
