What is Opinion Writing?

 

 Introduction

Hello Second Graders!

Last week you learned about opinions and practiced writing stories using W questions. This week you will continue to learn about opinions and opinion writing. Today you will learn about opinion writing and what you need to include in your opinion writing. You will pick a topic and begin writing your opinion about that topic. You will work through the opinion writing process and use the checklist to review your writing. You will continue to use this writing process and the checklist this quarter to complete your opinion writing.

Last week you learned that an opinion is how you feel about something. When completing opinion writing, you are writing about your feelings and thoughts about something. You must give reasons to support your opinion and tell your readers why you have those thoughts and feelings towards that topic. Then you will finish your writing with a conclusion that restates your opinion.

For this assignment, you will need to write in your journal. What is the topic you want to write about? What do you want to share your opinion about? Then record yourself reading your opinion writing.
