What's the Matter?

 Introduction

This week you are going to use what you have been learning in writing and combine it with what you have learned in science and reading. You have been learning about matter and the different states of matter during science and reading. This week you are going to use the knowledge that you have learned during those lessons and write a letter to a friend. You will describe the different states of matter and what happens during different states. 

Let’s start this week by learning how to write a letter. Watch the video to learn about the different parts of a letter. Then you will learn about commas this week while writing your letter.

Now you will begin the prewriting and planning stage of your writing for this week. You will complete the graphic organizer to gather ideas about matter. What have you learned about matter? What is matter? Why  is it important to know about matter and the stages of matter? These are all ideas that you could include in your letter to a friend about matter. Complete the graphic organizer to begin gathering ideas. If you need to, review your science and reading materials on matter.
