🔵 Lesson 1: Understanding My School Community in Relation to the US Government
Understanding My School Community in Relation to the US Government
Introduction
Hi Class! Today we will be looking at what it means to be a part of the community. We all play an important role in the communities in which we live and serve. For example, in the school community, you have one role, whereas in your local town, or city, community you have a different role. We will compare the differences in the roles that the leaders of the executive branch have compared to your very own school leaders.
Why do People live in communities?
Please read the following slides. When you see the “Stop And Think Sign”, jot down your thoughts in your notebook:
My Role as a Student and a Citizen
For some of your independent activities, you will need a notebook to answer questions to be prepared for the next discussion. Sometimes I will have you take a picture and upload it into our shared platform, and sometimes I will ask you to bring your work to the next day's class session.
After thinking about our lesson, I want you to reflect on your role as a student and your role as a citizen. Please be ready to share your answers with the class.
In Your Notebook
- Write 3 examples of how you can be a “model” student in our 2nd-grade class.
- Write 3 examples of how you can be a “model” citizen in our community.
