Let’s review the ruler and how to measure using the ruler. Remember, a ruler measures in inches or centimeters, depending on which side you are using to measure. Today, we are going to measure using the inches and centimeters. Take a look at the ruler poster and then complete the measuring assignment using the ruler.

Now you are going to practice measuring using the ruler. Before you complete the assignment. Use your ruler and measure objects that you have around you. You can measure your math journal, pencil, piece of paper and other objects. Measure the objects in both inches and centimeters. 

Complete the Interactive Activity: Shortest to Longest Measurement Sort

  • Make a list of the objects you measure in your math journal. 
  • Then decide which object you measured was the longest and which was the shortest object.
