Reading Day 2: First Grade Reading Review

Introduction

Welcome readers!  This week we will focus on retelling a story and we will discuss the central message or lesson of the text. First you will review our retelling hand anchor chart and watch the anchor chart video to begin our lesson. After reviewing our anchor chart and video, you will read aloud the provided text.

Today you will read the text aloud. Record your reading for your teacher. Reread the text as many times as you need to help you comprehend the text. After reading you will complete the graphic organizer. You will retell the story and state the central message or lesson you learned from the text. Your text for today is “The Wish”.

The Wish Seth had a wish. he had a wish for a pet fish. his mom and dad said he would need some cash to get a pet fish. seth wants to wash dogs to get cash for his pet fish. seth gets 3 dogs to wash. seth puts the dog in the bath. he washes the dog. seth brushes the dog when the bath is done. seth needs to take the dogs home. he forgot the leash for the dogs. the dogs dash out of the house. seth rushes after the dogs. seth catches the dogs and puts them on the leash. the dogs go home seth gets the cash for his pet fish. seth gets his wish.
