Reading Day 1: First Grade Reading Review -2

Introduction

Welcome to a new week of reading!  This week we will focus on retelling a story and we will discuss the central message or lesson of the text. First you will review our retelling hand anchor chart and watch the anchor chart video to begin our lesson. After reviewing our anchor chart and video, you will read aloud the provided text.

Today you will read the text aloud. Record your reading for your teacher. Reread the text as many times as you need to help you comprehend the text. After reading you will complete the graphic organizer. You will retell the story and state the central message or lesson you learned from the text. Your text for today is “The Rush”.

The Rush Chad is in a rush. He dashed to the den to chat with his mom. his mom said Do not run in the house. chad said ok Mom. dad comes home and he had a chat with chad. dad said we do not run in the house, you may get hurt. on Thursday chad grabs a bag of chips. chad smashed the bag and chips and dashed to the den with his chips. chad trips and falls. his chips are smashed and he is sad. chad did crush his leg. dad and mom rush chad to the doctor. chad had to get crutches.
