Phonics Day 2: ir, er, ur - R-controlled Words Phonics Lesson
Introduction
Hella, First graders, and welcome back to day two of our ir, er, and ur, r-controlled words phonics lesson. Remember from day 1 that an ‘R-Controlled’ vowel is immediately followed by the letter ‘r’ and can no longer be pronounced as a long or short vowel. We often say that r is in charge, or we call it bossy r because that is all you hear. Today we will substitute vowel sounds in words to make the bossy r sound, read r-controlled words, and read our decodable story.
Here we go.
