Today we will continue to explore nonfiction text features. Nonfiction books have features that help the reader understand the information.  Review our anchor chart before beginning the lesson.

Nonfiction Text Features
Glossary - typically found in the back of the text and gives the reader definitions of vocabulary found in the reading.
Heading - Is found at the top of the page. Words may be bold or bigger. It introduces text on the page.
Table of Contents - typically found in the front of the text; helps the reader to locate information quickly; chapters are listed in numerical order
