Reading Day 1: Elements of a Narrative

Introduction:

Welcome to a new week of reading! Last week we discussed the characters and the setting of a story. We also talked about the characteristics of good readers. We learned, good readers ask questions before reading (or making predictions), during reading, and after they have read a text. This week, we will continue that focus and talk more about key details. Remember, key details are the important information in a story.

Please watch the videos below. When you finish, grab your learning coach and complete the graphic organizer.

I enjoyed sharing the story, Teju’s Shadow, with you today. We identified the characters and the setting of the story. We made predictions before we read and asked questions during and after the story. Remember our focus will be to identify key details. Key details are the important information in the story. Now you will identify three key details from the story. Use the graphic organizer below to identify the key details from the story.
