Phonics: Module 17, Lesson 1 (Day 81): Irregular Plurals

Phonics: Lesson 1 - Identifying Irregular Plurals

Introduction

  • Today, you will identify, read, and spell irregular plural words.

We are going to learn about irregular plural nouns. Irregular plural forms do not follow the usual rules for adding plural endings. Here are a few rules to remember about irregular plural nouns:

  1. If a noun ends in f, change the f to v and add -es.
  2. If a noun ends in fe, change the fe to v and add -es.
  3. Some nouns have vowel or other spelling changes.
  4. Some nouns don’t follow a rule and are the same in the singular and plural forms.
