Phonics: Module 12, Lesson 2 (Day 57): Consonant -le Syllables
Phonics: Lesson 2 - Build Automaticity with Consonant -le Syllables.
Introduction
Today, you will blend words with consonant -le syllables and read words to develop fluency.
Yesterday, we learned how to identify words with consonant-le syllables. We know that when a word ends in -le, the consonant before it plus the letters -le form the last syllable.
Let’s look at a new word, fable. The word fable has two syllables. The final syllable is ble–the consonant plus -le. The first syllable, fa-, is an open syllable because it ends in a vowel. The vowel has a long sound.
Now, let’s look at the word pebble. The word pebble also has two syllables (peb/ble). The first syllable, peb-, is a closed syllable because it ends with a consonant and has a short vowel sound. The final syllable, -ble, is made up of the consonant plus -le.
Let’s practice building our reading fluency by completing the Build Automaticity with Consonant -le Syllables.
Practice reading the list of words three times. Then, login to Flipgrid to record yourself reading the words fluently.
