Hello Writers! You have been practicing responding to a text to show what you know. Today, you will practice responding in a brief concise manner when responding to a nonfiction text.

The first step in writing a short response to a text is be sure to read prompts or questions very carefully. Ask yourself: "What am I being asked to do?", and "Where can I find text evidence to support my answer?"
Directions:
- Read the passages and anchor charts.
- Respond to the prompts. Be sure to use the pre-writing and post-writing checklists.
- On the summary slide, click "export text." Compare your responses to the sample responses. How did you do? What can you improve next time?
