Fluency-- Read it with Interest

Video

Hello readers! Today I’d like to teach you a strategy that will help you read non-fiction text with interest.

Directions:

  • While reading a nonfiction text, it can be easy for you to use a very monotone flat voice while reading a bunch of facts. Try, instead, to show that the information you’re reading is very interesting! Look ahead at the punctuation so you know whether you are giving information (period or exclamation point) or asking questions (question mark).  Prepare your teacher voice to read it.
  • Choose a nonfiction text from your book box to practice this strategy.  Be sure to fill out your reading log.
  • Then, go to the Next page for a Flip assignment.
