Writing: Module 30, Lesson 4 (Day 149): Extended Written Response: Opinion Text
Session 3: ALERT, ALERT, ALERT-- WATCH OUT!: Fixing Plagiarism
Video
One thing that writers of opinion pieces need to WATCH OUT FOR is plagiarism. Plagiarism is when a writer copies the words of another writer and claims that they are their own words. Because you are using details from the text, you may feel the desire to just copy what’s in the passage, but DON’T - plagiarism is stealing. When a writer realizes they are plagiarizing, they push themselves to paraphrase, which means they put the text details into their own words.
