Hello Writers! Today I want to teach you that after reading a text, often you will be asked to respond to it to show what you know. Today you will practice doing this after reading a fable.

The first step in writing a short response to a text is be sure to read prompts or questions very carefully. Ask yourself:  "What am I being asked to do?", and "Where can I find text evidence to support my answer?" 

Directions:

• Read the passages and anchor charts.
• Respond to the prompts.  Be sure to use the pre-writing and post-writing checklists.
• On the summary slide, click "export text."  Compare your responses to the sample responses.  How did you do?  What can you improve next time?
