Reread and Respond
Reread the passage.
Robot to the RescueJake was a great kid. He was kind and smart and fun to be around. He had good friends, and he always helped his mom with chores. However, Jake had one big problem--he had trouble waking for school. It wasn’t that Jake didn’t like school. He liked it a lot. It just took him forever to get out of bed! The problem seemed to be getting worse. Sometimes he missed the school bus. His mom was a robot scientist and had an important job. Sometimes she was late for work because she had to drive Jake to school. The problem had to be solved, so Jake’s mom came up with a solution. She built a special robot clock that spoke in complete sentences, telling Jake again and again to please wake up. It moved around the room, so that Jake had to leave his bed in order to shut it off! His mom also programmed the robot with Jake’s voice. She thought it would be useful for Jake to hear his own voice telling him to wake up. Did the robot clock work? It certainly did! Jake has never been late for school again. |
