Phonics: Lesson 3 - Sorting Closed Syllables

Introduction

Today, you will sort words with open syllables

ti/ger

Let’s review how to identify an open syllable. I can divide the word tiger using syllables: ti/ger. I see that the first syllable is an open syllable. If it ends with a consonant and has a long vowel sound, then it is an open syllable.
