Introduction

Today, you will blend words with open syllables and read words to develop fluency.

Yesterday, we learned about open syllables. An open syllable is a syllable with a long vowel sound where the vowel is open, meaning there is no consonant after it.

An open syllable ends in a vowel and usually has a long vowel sound. 
Examples:

music
siren
