Hello readers! Today you will practice reading and understanding contractions. You will be matching a contraction to the two words that it makes up.

Contractions: could not can be shortened to couldn't.  The apostrophe takes the place of the missing letters.

Directions:

  • You will be matching a contraction to the two words that it makes up. Remember, an apostrophe takes the place of missing letters.  For example, the words 'could' and 'not' can create the shortened word 'couldn't.'  The apostrophe takes the place of the 'o' in 'not', making the contraction.
