Hello readers! Today you will practice summarizing text using a strategy called Sum Summary!

Main Idea Paragraphs 1-2::

Main Idea Paragraphs 3-4:

Main Idea Paragraphs 6-10:

Skip 4-5 lines between each heading (see picture for example)

Example. Main Idea Paragraphs 1-2: (skip 5 lines). Main Idea Paragraphs 3-4: (skip 5 lines). Main Idea Paragraphs 6-10:

 

  • When you’re done, go back to paragraphs 1 & 2 and find the main idea.
  • Do the same for paragraphs 3-5 and then again for 6-10.
  • When you have jotted down the main idea for each section, combine the three to create your summary and write it in your notebook.
  • Submit your summary statement on the discussion post assignment on the Next page.
