Lesson 12 Rocks and Soils: How Well Do Different Soils Drain? Part II

Welcome back!

We are going to take another look at our soil samples from yesterday to have a follow-up observation on what you did to observe soil drainage yesterday.  So all you need are the same sample cups of soil from yesterday, your science journal, and a pencil.

Assignment

Science Journal Entry:

Answer the following questions in your journal based on what you see today:

  1. Has any more water come out of any of the cups of soil since yesterday? If so, which ones?
  2. Touch each sample of soil. Which ones still feel wet? Do any of them feel dry? Write these observations in your journal.
  3. Touch the samples again. Do they feel squishy? Hard? Easy or difficult to move the grains in them? Write down what you think this might mean.
