Lesson 5 Rocks and Soils: Attributes Luster
Hello, young scientists!
It’s time to talk about the third attribute of rocks and minerals: luster.
Luster describes how rocks and minerals reflect light. Basically, luster is how shiny rocks are. You have probably noticed that when you have looked at all kinds of rocks!
Look at the digital poster below to see some of the kinds of luster. You don’t have to memorize them. It’s just good to know what kinds of names are put to what kind of shininess rocks have.
Get your science journal and collected rocks ready for today’s activity.
