Lesson 8: Sources of Heat Energy

Sources of Heat Energy

Introduction

Hello scientists!  Today, we will continue to learn about sources of heat energy.

Assignment

For today’s task, let’s do an experiment!

Sequence of images. First, hands apart. Second, hands together. Third, hands clasped.

Step 1:
Quickly rub your hands together for 30 seconds.

Step 2: After 30 seconds are up, place your hands on your cheeks and feel how warm your hands are.

The friction of your hands rubbing together created heat. Friction is another source of heat. Keep trying it and compare the different results you get!

Step 3: Now, grab your science journal and take a walk around your house. As you are walking around, make a list in your science journal of other sources of heat that you can determine as you walk from room to room.
