Healthcare organizations are heavily regulated by state law and federal law. These laws are created by legislative bodies. Institutional leadership bodies develop policies and procedures that support proper adherence to the legal regulatory statutes. Institutional policies and procedures provide a guideline for obeying healthcare-specific laws. Many institutions house numerous policies and procedures in a manual or an electronic interface.
