Students can now throw away their flashcards and celebrate when it comes to preparing for the SAT! Long gone are the sentence completion questions, which have been an integral part of the SAT for many years. Starting in 2016, the vocabulary questions will focus on words that students may actually see in life as compared to the very obscure and difficult words previously tested. The reading section will test students with questions that force them to read passages and gather from the text what the word actually means. It is important that students learn the meaning of a word, understand how it is used in a sentence, and then be able to use the word themselves.

  • How will learning vocabulary help to improve students' SAT scores?
  • How can a student figure out the meaning of a word using context clues?
  • What are some tips and strategies students can use to increase their vocabulary?
