GTKYC - Focal Length (Lesson)

Focal Length

What is Focal Length and Why Does It Matter?

The most basic definition of focal length is the distance between the center of a lens (where light enters the camera) and the focal plane, which is where the image comes into focus. This usually means the distance between the lens and the film or camera sensor. Focal length affects all cameras and all photographs. A longer focal length shows a small perspective or field of vision with a closer subject. A shorter focal length shows a wider perspective or field of vision.

Please watch the following presentation to learn more about focal length. Be sure your volume is turned on!
