LNG - Introduction to Learning Module Overview

Introduction to Learning

Introduction

mouse in the Skinner Box

Learning about learning? Ironic, huh? May seem that way but I bet you do not recognize how you have learned all that you know to this point in your life. Think beyond the school walls...how did you learn to walk, how did you learn to flinch when someone raises a hand near you, and how did you learn to respond with nervousness when you hear creepy music? See, learning is more than what you do inside of the classroom. This unit will discuss three forms of learning: classical conditioning, operant conditioning, and observational learning. Ready to learn?

Essential Questions

  • How do we learn?
  • How do our experiences influence our behavior and mental processes?
