Industrial Revolution Begins

Waterframe ImageAs Europe continued to grow and evolve in the 1700s, the environment will continue to shape human societies. As populations continued to grow and change, these populations will in turn shape the environment as well and that is what helped lead to the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution emerged in England in the second half of the 18th century. A variety of environmental factors enabled this to take place contributing to the growth of industrial production, resulting in the Industrial Revolution. Proximity to waterways, geographical distribution of natural resources, urbanization, improved agriculture, capital, legal protection of private property, a government open to change and access to foreign resources were just a few of the reasons why England was the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. The textile industry was the first affected but industrialization quickly spread to other areas such as transportation, iron and coal industries. As the revolution progressed with its numerous inventions and ideas, work shifted out of the home and into the factory system.   As the factory system developed, it concentrated production to a single location, leading to an increasing degree of specialization of labor. These power-driven machines were able to mass-produce goods fast and cheap.
