You will be asked to complete a Long Essay Question, 3 Short Answer Questions, and a Document-Based Essay on the AP College Board National World History Exam and for this class. Please read over the rubric link in the sidebar so you understand how you must write these prompts. The Long Essay portions may ask you to compare and contrast, demonstrate continuity and change over time, or discuss causation. The Document-based Essay will ask you to use several documents to answer a prompt and it is in this essay that you must discuss the author's point of view and potential bias.

Please watch the following presentation on AP World History Writing Tips.

A word about Short Answer Questions:

There will be 4 Short Answer Questions on the exam. You MUST answer questions one and two. Then you will choose to answer EITHER question three OR four.

  • Question 1 - will ask you to analyze secondary sources.
  • Question 2 - will ask you to analyze a primary source document (written text or a visual source).
  • Questions 3 and 4 - You will choose ONE of these questions. Both will assess the same skill - either comparison or continuity and change over time.

All of the questions will ask you to draw from historical examples in order to answer the question.
