11_ClefNote.pngIn the previous module, we learned the basic components of musical form such as the phrase and the period. We also looked at some basic musical structures such as binary form, ternary form, etc.

In this module we will begin to fully analyze complete musical examples and hopefully discover real-life applications of musical form.

Key Terms

  1. Chord inversion - describes the relationship of a chord's bass to the other tones in the chord.
  2. Key - a scale upon which a music composition is created.
  3. Roman numeral analysis - is a kind of musical notation in which Roman numerals are used to indicate the quality of triads.
