(INT) Intervals Module Overview

Intervals

An interval is the distance between two notes. Intervals are named by two properties: the quality (Major, Minor, Augmented or Diminished) and the quality or number (Unison, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc). In this module we will learn all of the intervals possible within the range of one octave. We will not only be able to identify an interval by sight but by sound as well.

Essential Questions

  • What are the possible intervals formed in a major scale?
  • What other intervals are there?
  • How do you identify an interval by sight?
  • How do you identify an interval by sound?
